Step out into the Mongolian wilderness just over an hour’s drive and enter the Terelj National Park, known for its scenery of towering granite stone mountains, green meadows, and numerous traditional lodges.
The Khan Khentii and Terelj National Park horse riding adventure takes you along the beautiful river valley settled by nomads, heading Princess temple ruin in the Khan Khentii Wilderness.
Even the evenings will delight you with glittering bright stars, fresh and dry steppe breeze while camping.
You will experience Mongolian traditional dwelling ger stay and see gigantic Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue before returning to Ulaanbaatar.
Day 1: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and city tour
Your guide and driver will meet you at the airport/railway station. If the time permits, attend a short city sightseeing tour. First, you will climb Zaisan Hill to see the panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar, followed by a visit to Gandantegchilen Monastery. See religious artifacts while visiting various temples. A 26m tall gilded statue of a Buddha in Megjid Janrasag temple is another feature of interest. Next, visit the National Museum of Mongolia and the central square.

Day 2: Gorkhi Terelj National Park and Khan Khentii Mountains
In the morning, drive to Terelj National Park with stops at an ovoo, a local worshipping place, and the legendary Turtle Rock. Next, meet our horses and the horse wrangler. Ride along Gorkhi Terelj and Khan Khentii Mountains. Today, we will have an overnight in the tent near Khurkh Mountain.

Day 3: Horse riding along beautiful Baruun Bayan River Valley
The horse riding trip continues along the Baruun Bayan River Valley. The green valley is the main pastureland of nomads, filled with nomads’ Gers and their countless animals such as horses, sheep, goats, and cattle, including yaks. Camping near the Bayan River, and enjoy a bonfire.

Day 4: Continue the riding to Princess Temple
Our riding continues to Gunj/Princess Temple among Khan Khentii Mountains. Today, we ride through mountains and along trails of a forest. The temple was built in honor of a Manchu princess who married Mongolian nobleman Dondovdorj in 1699. The communists destroyed the temple 1930s, but the surrounding nature of the temple remained pristine as people can’t access the area by vehicles most of the time.

Day 5: Last day of the riding
Today we will ride down the Baruun Bayan River Valley and check in a ger camp in the vicinity of the Genghis Khan statue.

Day 6: Genghis Khan statue and return to Ulaanbaatar
This 40 m tall Genghis Khan statue is considered the largest statue of an equestrian in the world. Visit small museums of the statue complex, and see the Tuul River Valley and Khan Khentii Mountains from the observation deck of the statue horse. Return to Ulaanbaatar and check in to a hotel. Free time.

Day 7: Departure
The driver will transfer you to the airport/railway station. End of the Khan Khentii & Terelj National Park Horse Riding tour.
