Depending on the horseback riding tour length, we included one day to several days of tourist ger camp stay in different locations for an experience and refreshment while staying in western friendly facility accommodation.
The ger camp is the major accommodation when traveling through the remote lands of Mongolia. The ger camps are built to accommodate all needs of the travelers if possible and are located near the famous attractions or scenic areas.
Depending on the remoteness and infrastructure, the ger camp facilities differentiate.
One big ger or house for dining, shower, and WC facilities in a separate block, and several other gers for the guest stay is the general picture of the ger camp.
Some ger camps have an open terrace, playgrounds, sports game fields, game rooms/gers, information center, and souvenirs shops.
The gers have 2, 3, 4, and 5 single beds with clean linens. Double bed gers are available in some ger camps. 2 to 3 people stay in a ger is ideal. Single supplements are provided based on the additional fee.
Except for the beds, the ger is furnished with an alter, night tables, a dining table, chairs, hangers, and a charming wood-burning stove.
The ger camp bathroom is in a separate block for sharing with the other travelers. The majority of the ger camps have WC and running water shower available for 24 hours. They place large and small towels in the gers.
We advise you to bring a hairdryer if you use it and your amenities.
Few ger camps have limited hot water supply as they heat the shower water by fire or on guests’ request if there are few visitors.
Ger camps feature large central gers or lodge-style restaurants that serve Mongolian and European-style meals. The meal ingredients of nomadic Mongolians have always been nature-derived and basic. Meat is the main recipe for lunch and dinner, served along with seasonally available vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, beets, lettuce, pimentos, radishes, onions, and garlic, etc. plus salads, and soups. There will be more meat in traditional Mongolian meals.
BREAKFAST: A typical breakfast consists of tea, coffee, bread, jam, butter, eggs, sausage, cookies, cheese, and cereals.
LUNCH: They serve some salads, Mongolian soups, main courses (pasta, rice, vegetables, beef/mutton/chicken/fish near lakes/rivers, traditional meal), and dessert with tea.
DINNER: Salad, a main course, dessert, and tea.
The ger camps serve vegetarian or special meals based on the information provided in advance.
The ger camps located near province centers, town centers, or near the electric line have 24 hours electricity in contrast to the ger camps in remote locations those source the electricity from the generator, solar panel, or windmill.
The central electricity ger camps installed sockets in the guest gers. You will charge your devices in their restaurants when staying in the generator sourced or renewable electricity ger camps.
There is a need for laundry during the multi-day horseback riding and camping, which is a limited possibility. Few ger camps have laundry service, and it takes time till they make your laundry ready. Expect your laundry will be ready in 18 to 24 hours. Although, there is not much time to do this because we need to depart to the next destination the following morning.
Therefore, please consider the laundry when packing while trying to avoid bringing too many things.
