• Torch/headlamp is vital
• A lightweight, windproof/waterproof warm jacket helps you stay warm in the evening while camping. If you travel in the western and northern mountainous parts of Mongolia, it is better to bring a warm jacket even in the summer months.
• Riding pants. Waterproof overtrousers if it rains and lightweight travel pants. Having layers of clothes is better in cooler months, including trousers.
• T-shirts and long-sleeved t-shirts will be comfortable and help you protect your arms from the sun and stay warm.
• A fleece jacket/sweatshirt could be suitable at a cold temperature of spring/autumn and evening/morning
• Woolen hat, gloves/riding gloves, and scarf in May, the beginning of June, late August, and September.
• Riding boots/chaps, a sturdy pair of walking sandals could be suitable for walking around ger camps/ camping sites, and let your feet relax.
• Pajamas/tights or something similar to stay warm at night.
• Clothes, suitable for high temperatures up to +38°C during the daytime in the summer months. The temperature could drop to 0°C just after +30 °C on the same day. The rain turns into snow in the higher elevated areas either in summer.
• Protective sunglasses with a strong tie to prevent them from flying off when galloping. Bringing your eyeglasses is preferable instead of lenses on dusty roads.
• Sun cream and lip balm
• Some pills for common symptoms you may have when traveling; travel sickness pills, allergies pills (there is a vast expanse of grasslands), Pepto-Bismol for the inevitable upset stomach, Antibiotic cream for cuts, scratches, and insect bites, etc. The pills should be carried in the original, clearly labeled container, in your handbag, and should be checked with the Mongolian Embassy if necessary.
• Razorblades, shampoo, soap, lotions, deodorant, and toothpaste are all available extensively in Ulaanbaatar. However, they are not available at ger camps and during camping. Therefore, bring your supply.
• Bring your towel, dry/wet tissues, and hand sanitizer. Particularly when you have picnic meals in the countryside and during some important stops on the way.
• Lightweight helmets
• Sleeping bag indicates -5°C for summer trips and -10°C to -15°C for spring and autumn trips. We can provide synthetic sleeping upon request.
• Daypack to keep your water, cameras, etc. on horseback and backpack
• Waterproof day backpack cover
• Insect repellent
• Travel and medical insurance, passport, and other documents.
• Camera with a spare battery or a mobile charger.
• Power bank. Check your flight’s power bank capacity allowance to prevent luggage delay
• Resealing (Ziploc) plastic bags – to protect your documents, money, camera, binoculars, and other items from wetness, sand, and dust
• Check recommended vaccination except for the Covid-19 vaccination two shots
• Small gifts for nomad children if you do not mind. Nomad family visit to learn this unique culture is an inseparable and experiential part of our tours. Sudden and uninformed visits to nomads on your way and their hospitality is a nice feeling for either of you. Expressing thanks through a small gift is not a must, but you may like to give a little more happiness to the people living in the middle of nowhere. May consider the below idea; small toys, hair ribbons, children’s book, educational materials, paper, pencils, crayons or sweets for children, sewing kits, face or hand cream, a little perfume, cigarettes, cigar-related items, or snuff tobacco for adults. Alternatively, pack candies both for children and adults to keep things simple.
